Pixels to Stitches: Materializing Digital Information
This project aimed to fuse my two passions together: graphic design and knitwear. As I reformatted images for digital catalogs in my student job, I realized that digital images and textiles share a similar visual language. Both are built from small units, pixels or stitches, that work together to create a larger tapestry of color, texture, and visual information. This drove my focus into stop-motion design, merging these tapestries together, creating movement while emphasizing the slow labor it took to create each panel. The completed work reflects the endurance required to decelerate visuals in a world of hyperacceleration.
